In 2006 I found myself dealing with health issues that seemed to come out of nowhere. Truth is, like most busy moms, I was ignoring the symptoms until they got so bad I had no choice but deal with them. Unfortunately, I waited so long they morphed into a rather lengthy laundry list of ailments. Some of the more pressing symptoms where severe headaches, chronic constipation, female issues (a nearly never-ending cycle) and chronic fatigue. I could sit down and be out like a light as they say.  Another pressing issue had to do with food allergies and asthma. It seemed like every day I had a new food that would cause my throat to feel like it was swelling shut or make it harder for me to breath. Doctors did every test there was including that nasty barium test and found nothing. I carried two inhalers and an epinephrine pen for both the food allergies and asthma.

That year I spent a LOT of time in the doctor’s office having every test run on me only to hear that, “we couldn’t find anything wrong”, “you’re in pretty good shape” and for the chronic fatigue, “are you sure you’re not depressed”?  “Have some Prozac!”  No, the only depression I might have had was from knowing something was wrong and they could not figure out the problem!

At that time, I was a runner and I ran between seven and nine miles a day. I didn’t know until I had to stop running due to a neck injury (a whole other story) just how much the running was holding me together. When they say the exercise helps your body fight off sickness, it really does!  It was at this time my symptoms got even worse. This made me desperate and willing to try even the things I never thought I would consider, like Holistic Health!

I became an information junkie reading everything I could, but problem was everything I read “fit me”!  I couldn’t possibly need everything, could I?  So, I kept reading and digging. Then one day someone said to me, “you should take Wesley to see Dr. Lamb”, Wesley was our very sick lap dog. He was so sick I was afraid I would have to put him down, a thought I could not bear. I took him to see Dr. Lamb and was completely surprised at what changes I saw over one week.  He had more energy, was not biting and chewing at his paws or scratching at his face. When we went back the following week, I told Dr. Lamb how impressed I was, that’s when I learned that this was something that could be done for people too. As it turned out Dr. Lamb is one of only eight vets in the country who do Nutrition Response Testing. However, it was at this point we were off to Mississippi.

Once we moved to Mississippi, I had to find a new vet for Wesley and practitioner for my family - problem was, where?  Dr. Lamb to the rescue, she put me in touch with Kim Townsend and Penny Thrash at Naturally You, the only place in Mississippi that does Nutrition Response Testing. God was surely working in my life as it would be changed forever! As I went through my own personal program, I soon found that I no longer needed my inhalers or the epinephrine pen AND I don’t fall asleep every time I sit down. Quite honestly, I don’t think I had any idea just how sick I was or where I would be right now if I had not found Nutrition Response Testing. I now realize that I had no idea what real health felt like but I do now and I have no intention of ever going back!

This whole process has changed my life in so many ways I can’t begin to express how grateful I am! I believe there is a silver lining in every cloud and in this one I learned what I wanted to be when I grew up. I love helping people and what can be more gratifying then helping others who have been where you were at, so I went on to be trained in Nutrition Response Testing. It’s my goal to help as many people look and feel better safe and naturally without the use of drugs or other life-threatening side effects. If you have health issues that you would like to improve, Nutrition Response Testing is for you!

What We Believe In

We apply the principles and offer the natural protocols embraced by Pastoral Science and Medicine to assist our clients in restoring health and maintaining overall mental, physical and spiritual well-being.

What to Expect from a PSM Practitioner

  • Personalized Healthcare. Genuinely personalized healthcare does not involve one-size-fits-all, cookie-cutter approaches to restoration of health. You and your journey in life to this point in time have been unique. While your path of recovery may have similarities to those struggling with the same conditions, it is likely that your return to robust health and wellness will have its own unique twists and turns. Accordingly, the services you receive will focus on your individual situation and restore your health as a positive vitality, beyond just alleviating symptoms of poor health.

  • Planning for Success. We will take the time to understand your health concerns, evaluate whether our services are right for you and if so, inform you about the proposed services, their projected cost, and what you can reasonably expect to gain as a client. If you choose to proceed, we will sign a written agreement with you that assures you are entering into a professional relationship.

  • A Holistic Approach. In addressing your health issues, we will consider the complex web of interactions presented by your personal background, unique physiology and lifestyle that contribute to your chronic illness. Both internal (mind, body, and spirit) and external (physical and social environmental) factors affecting how your total system is functioning are taken into account. By listening to you and learning your history, present situation, and lifestyle, we will engage you in the discovery process to identify the root causes of your symptoms, and suggest strategies we would use in your position to restore functional balance, promote natural healing and regain optimal health.

It is important to remember, however, that your chronic illness did not occur from one day to the next; and it is unreasonable to expect you can regain your health overnight. To the contrary, your willingness to make significant lifestyle changes, probably including diet and exercise, and to pursue other natural protocols we may suggest to you, will be a major factor in your recovery and how long it takes for you to return to a state of vibrant health and well-being.
